Bloomingdole Church is the best Church I have ever had the honor of attending, as well as being a member of. I am moving too far to continue being a regular attending member, but I will always hold a place in my heart for all the wonderful individuals and families I met there. Every chance I get I will visit you all. In closing if anyone reading this is in the process of looking for a Spiritual home for you and your family, your search is over. Give The Family of Bloomingdale Church a chance to win you over as they did my Family and Friends. I LOVE all of you.

If they are currently in 7th grade, they can sign up as a teen volunteer to serve with the kids. If they are going into 7th grade, they can registers as an attendee.

I moved to Crystal Lake in 2006 and STILL cannot find a church that comes close to what I found at Bloomingdale Church. Zac and I miss the sermons, the people and the wonderful connection.

This week we fasted from TV. While I wouldn’t say that it is a “priority” in our lives, I realize that it tends to be our “default” activity to fall back on. Often I will just walk in the house and turn the TV on just to have background noise. I don’t even care what is actually on the TV. This week we have not done that and it has been weird to realize how quiet it is in the house. But we have also been so much more productive this week because we haven’t just been sitting around watching TV whenever we have a free moment.

So, this week I am fasting from Facebook. Recognizing I spend a bit too much time on Facebook during the week. So far, I have only logged on for 10 minutes this week to look at pictures of my friends cute-cute kitty, Oliver.

I agree with Stacey. We’ve been much better about praying–both individually and with each other. We can, of course, continue to get better about communicating with God, but it is an encouraging step forward in our relationship with each other and God.

The spiritual discipline that I (really, we – Mark and I) have been practicing this week has been prayer. While we both would individually pray at times in our lives, we didn’t pray together as a couple/family as much. So this week we have made a pointed effort to find time to pray together, for each other, for our relationship, for our spiritual growth, etc. It has been a great experience for me and I do believe that it is bringing us together in a new way in our relationship.

When R.C. Sproul said, “I don’t think I have ever loved God with all of my heart, soul, strength, and mind for even five minutes,” I thought –”You’re right, when have I ever done that.” But this week it hit me: Rarely in running have I ever used up all my strength in five minutes. It usually takes literally hours of running to use all of my strength. In the Christian life, I think we show our love to God not in a phenomenal burst of mind, body, spirit activity, but rather over a long, sometimes draining period wherein the Christian wears himself out living by faith because of his love for God. That said, I don’t think God expects us to live on the edge of spiritual burn-out, but rather, that the Christian keeps perservering and from that effort becomes strong.

Hi Linda,

We have a weekly Jr. High youth group for 7th and 8th grade students (Thursdays at 7pm, Sundays at 9:45am) and a weekly PAK group (like a pre-youth group) for 5th and 6th grade students. The PAK group meets during Awana on Wednesday night and also on Sunday mornings at 9:45. In addition to weekly gatherings, both groups have trips and other fun outings. It sounds like your daughter is at the right age for the PAK group this year. If so, we’d love to see her Wednesdays or Sundays when school starts! Feel free to call the church office at any time if you need more info @ 630.894.0090.

My name is Linda Orta. I am trying to get some general information regarding your church. I am most interested in getting information on what’s available for my 11 year old daughter. She is getting ready to enter 6th grade (Junior High) this Fall and I would love for her to learn more about Jesus. Please share with me what programs would be available for her age group and let me know if anything is offered on Saturday late afternoon or any other day. Bloomingdale Baptist was a different church. They met on Edgewater Drive. A couple of years ago the church sold their property. We were sad to see them go!

My three year-old daughter LOVES Awana! And it’s amazing the bible verses she is memorizing – I never would have thought she could memorize verses at such a young age. Plus, the hour and a half to myself is a nice bonus, too!

I never thought I would, but I do look so forward to Tuesday mornings. At first I was afraid and quiet, but being able to talk, laugh and even cry with women who are facing the same issues, or who have been there and have advice for you is now dear to my heart. If someone had told me how special this time would become to me, I never would have believed him or her. You have to experience it for yourself. I have made friends with women from many age groups. Most importantly, through this group, my faith has grown and deepened. I have learned more about how to be a better, more faithful wife/mother/daughter/sibling and how to share that with others.

The reason I like the Women’s Break is that it keeps me “Christ-focused” in the middle of my crazy week and gives me peace of mind. It’s really nice to be around so many really caring women, too. And, truth be told…with my 2-year-old playing in the nursery for two hours…who could want more than that?!

Women’s Break on Tuesday mornings is a great place to fellowship with other women and where personal cares and concerns can be discussed in a totally nonjudgmental manor. Also you have many people praying for you which is GREAT! It’s a way to learn more about the Bible in a fun and relaxed way.
